Thank You & Farewell
✨Donal Skelly ✨
Back in June at our AGM, we said a heartfelt farewell to our Vice Chairman at the time, Donal Skelly. Donal has been a true beacon of light throughout the years at Moville Celtic, always ready with guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear no matter what role you took on within the club.
Donal’s steady presence and selfless nature have been woven into the very fabric of Moville Celtic, shaping the club’s spirit both on and off the pitch. From his early playing days to his many years as a coach and committee member, his passion for the game and pride in the jersey have never faded (along with that dodgy moustache still talked about today! 😄).
He was also known for his generosity, often quietly going above and beyond, from sponsoring club activities and team meals after matches, making sure everyone felt part of the Moville Celtic crew. 💚🤍 And of course, no volunteer is complete without the support of their family. None of this would have been possible without Lilian, who so often stepped up to keep things running at home while Donal gave his time to the club and community.
As we head into a new season, we do so with heavy hearts as Donal steps back from coaching. Over the years he has been a passionate advocate for ladies football, leading teams to All-Ireland competitions and bringing home countless shields and silverware. When he was not coaching, he was driving the team bus to make sure no player was ever left behind or mentoring the next generation of coaches with his trademark kindness and humour.
To say a part of the club leaves with him would be an understatement. From everyone at the club and the wider community, thank you Donal for your years of dedication, leadership, generosity, and heart. 💚
We hope this is not goodbye, but rather a see you soon. The door will always be open.
